BDA - Dance for pleasure. Love it forever

The British Dance Council endorses this promotion.

Dance

"On behalf of its Corporate Members and their dance teachers, the British Dance Council is delighted to be involved in this exciting ‘Go Free Kids’ Promotion.
The BDC is the governing body of Ballroom and Latin dancing in Great Britain and co-ordinates and helps in the promotion of schemes to publicise the social styles of dancing and for children through the education system. The enjoyment, exercise and health improvements gained are but a few reasons to encourage dancing and the BDC fully support this campaign."

Len Armstrong
President
British Dance Council

We have seen an explosion of interest in the sport of Dance in the UK. New styles and new dances have come into being, but the natural instinct within us all to dance has been there since time began and the enjoyment of it are also both timeless and enduring.

Indeed, dancing is great fun and can be achieved by anyone, regardless of age and ability. However, there are also serious benefits as well as the sheer enjoyment and pleasure derived from the art of dance. Dancing can help you to keep fit - indeed, it can be a gentle form of exercise, or, it can become, with practice, an athletic sport requiring the same levels of fitness and dedication as many Olympic track events.

So much so that the Government now requires dance to be taught in all its educational establishments for at least 6 weeks throughout the school academic year.

The British Dance Council is uniformly accepted as the sport's governing body for all matters appertaining to ballroom dancing throughout the UK and one of the main functions of the Council is to regulate and administer the rules of competition dancing. All competitions in Great Britain are governed by these rules.

You can easily take a closer look at dancing with the Nestle Kids Go Free initiative - and then join in. Simple methods are used by teachers to get people into the basics so that after a few easy lessons, you can feel confident on the dance floor! There is such a wealth of styles available from Ballroom and Latin American, Classical (Old Time) and Modern Sequence, Tap, Ballet, Rock 'n Roll, Stage, Disco, Freestyle, Garage, Hip Hop....and the list goes on!!
